Being the only cabin on the lake, you will not see anyone else. The cabin is located 170 air miles north of Ely, Minnesota and is just north of the Quetico Provincial Park in Ontario. Accessible only by floatplane, this is a true get-a-way from the pressures and pace of daily living. Whether your interests are fishing, wildlife observation, photography or just plain relaxation, this is the place for you. You are completely on your own; no caretakers, no telephone, no neighbors, just a lake to yourselves.
FISHINGWith only our customers fishing on Moosetrack lake, the lake essentially has been underfished, and as result has become a HUGE BREEDING GROUND for Walleye and Northen Pike!
We also have a canoe pre-positioned at Jimmy Lake, which is over-populated with Northern Pike. It is truly a fisherman's paradise, especially for those who use a fly rod or ultra-light tackle. You will also have access to Otter Lake for more walleye and northern fishing.
CABINThe Cabin stands on a granite outcropping overlooking the lake and is wood frame constructed 16'X32' in size with a large deck. It has two bedrooms (6 singles). The refrigerators, lights and cooking stove use propane gas. The cabin is equipped with a complete selection of cooking and eating utensils. There is a shower building and an outdoor gas BBQ grill for your convenience.
WILDLIFE
Wildlife Observation can be very exciting. Although early mornings and late evenings make the best time for watching, wildlife can be seen all day. Common sightings are of the Majestic Moose, Black Bear and White Tail Deer. Other favorites you will also enjoy are the Common Loon, Beaver, Otter, Bald Eagle and the Osprey.
You may catch a glimpse of the Gray Wolf, Lynx, Bobcat, Fisher, Pine Martin, Mink, Red Fox, Snowshoe Hare, Owls, Hawks...and over 100 other species of birds that summer in the area.
Nature Photography in this Northern Boreal Forest can be very rewarding. It is often said that a picture is worth a thousand words. But during your trip you'll capture images that will leave you speechless. Capture Wildlife, discover the hues and shadows of nature's serenity, record moments that you will treasure for a lifetime, create still life that's as vibrant as the north country itself, catch the eagle's eye in its pristine wilderness, capture spectacular color and action that tease the imagination.
FISHING EQUIPMENT
The watercraft supplied at Moosetrack Lake is 14' fishing boats and 9 h.p. motors. We equip each boat with boat seats, life jackets, seat cushions, landing nets, oars, anchor and a liter bag. Guides are not necessary, but available upon advanced notice. We also have canoes available for your pleasure.
FOOD
The menu at Moosetrack caters to that outdoor appetite that is so uncontrollable. We know that good food is a part of any great trip. Fill out the menu the best you can and we'll go over it with you in detail prior to your departure to camp.
We supply round trip flight service from Ely, Minnesota to the Canadian Outpost Cabin, your food supplies, the cooking and eating utensils, the cabin, boats & motors, canoes and gasoline. You need to bring your own linens, pillowcases, personal towels and dish towels. Please look at our suggested what to bring list for more details.
